Providers and coverage
Which networks and currencies does each provider support?
Each provider page has a Supported blockchains table with the networks the provider covers and, where the provider defines them, coverage levels.
Sumsub aims to support every asset the provider supports. Provider coverage is updated regularly, so there may be a short lag between a provider adding a network and it becoming available in Sumsub.
If a network you need is missing, contact your Customer Success Manager.
Which provider should we choose?
The provider selection depends on three things:
- Contract. Crystal Intelligence and Merkle Science are available as Managed, with Sumsub credentials and no contract of your own. TRM Labs, Elliptic, Chainalysis, and Nominis are BYOK: you hold the contract and supply the API key.
- Coverage. Compare the Supported blockchains tables for the networks you operate on.
- Risk taxonomy. Each provider returns its own risk categories and scores, and your rules are built on them. If your compliance team already works with one provider's taxonomy, staying with it saves migration effort.
Sumsub does not rank providers. Your Customer Success Manager can help you compare options for your case.
Can we use several providers at the same time?
Yes. Enable each provider on the Marketplace page and install its rule bundle.
A transaction is screened by every provider whose rules are installed, and the results are shown side by side on the transaction page and in the API response.
Screening
What exactly does each provider screen?
Within Transaction Monitoring, providers screen the counterparty wallet and, when a transaction hash is provided, the on-chain transaction as a whole.
Wallet screening can run before the transfer, so you can hold or reject the transaction. Transaction screening runs after the transfer has been broadcast.
Can we screen an applicant's wallet when there is no transaction, for example during onboarding?
Yes. Use Payment Method Check Advanced: add the crypto wallet as the applicant's payment method, and it is screened using the same provider data.
If the applicant also has to prove that the wallet belongs to them, use Unhosted Wallet Verification.
Provider setup
Can we use different BYOK API keys for different source keys?
Yes. In the provider settings on the Marketplace page, add a default key and additional keys mapped to source keys.
A transaction is screened with the key mapped to its source key. Transactions without a mapped source key use the default key.
This is available for Chainalysis, Elliptic, TRM Labs, Merkle Science, and Nominis.
