Email and phone verification
Confirm emails and phone numbers of your applicants.
You can check the applicant's phone number and email address to determine its reliability.
How email and phone verification works
The email and phone verification procedure works as follows:
- Applicants provide their email address and/or phone number and get a one-time code (or OTP).
- Applicants are requested to confirm the code (or OTP), and if it is correct, the step is passed.
- The system checks the data and, according to the internal logic, returns the results as red, yellow, or green labels, depending on how much risk the specified email address or phone number poses.
NoteFor more information on how we calculate email and phone risk level, see this article.
Get started with email and phone verification
To start using email and phone checks, do any of the following:
- Submit the applicant data via this API method.
- Collect the applicant data via the WebSDK or MobileSDK.
Tip
- Combine standard email and phone verification with email and phone risk assessment to get a detailed picture about your applicants.
- You can test email and phone verification in Sandbox mode. Once a daily texting limit expires, use the
111111code to test SMS sending for phone verification.
Review email and phone verification results
To view the verification results:
- In the Dashboard, go to the Applicants page and select a profile.
- Navigate to the Checks section and review the summary of the extracted and verified data:
- Phone confirmation check
- Email confirmation check
The result of email or phone number verification is displayed as an OTP Verified label. It indicates the credibility and authenticity of the email or phone number, verified by sending a one-time password (OTP) code.
NoteIf applicants do not provide the correct code, the system prevents them from proceeding with the verification process.
There are only two possible outcomes:
- Correct code provided — verification continues, and the corresponding check block is marked as
GREEN.- Incorrect code provided — verification cannot be completed, and no check result block is displayed. The system requests applicants to resubmit the verification code.
