Crystal Intelligence
Detect illicit crypto activity faster with Crystal Intelligence.
Crystal Intelligence is a leading blockchain analytics and crypto compliance platform that helps financial institutions, law enforcement agencies, and regulators detect, investigate, and prevent illegal activities involving cryptocurrencies.
The platform provides AI-powered blockchain analytics that enable organizations to uncover illicit finance, trace crypto movements, and enforce compliance.
Its key capabilities include:
- Real-time transaction monitoring — configure risk scenarios and alert settings to monitor wallet addresses in real-time, with instant notifications when the system detects suspicious activity.
- Multi-level risk assessment — assess activity risk levels at the address, wallet, or entity level, providing granular visibility into potential threats.
- Visual investigation tools — advanced visualization canvas for analyzing criminal activity and tracing fund flows between entities with intuitive graphical mapping.
How Crystal Intelligence works
Sumsub integrates Crystal Intelligence into Transaction Monitoring solution, so you can use it without separate API credentials or a complex setup. Sumsub manages the entire integration, allowing you to access Crystal Intelligence analytics directly in your existing compliance workflow.
The integration supports real-time processing of cryptocurrency activity using a wallet address, or a wallet address combined with a transaction hash. When a crypto transaction is initiated, Sumsub does the following:
- Extracts the wallet address (and the transaction hash, if available).
- Screens the wallet and/or transaction using Crystal Intelligence data.
- Generates a comprehensive risk report including risk scores, risk levels, and detailed exposure analysis.
Crystal Intelligence analytics provide several benefits, helping you act on suspicious behavior immediately. These benefits include:
- Automatic evaluation of both hosted and unhosted wallets before approving transactions, with risk levels (Low, Medium, High) and numerical risk scores (0 to 1).
- Detection of risky or suspicious wallet activity by analyzing connections and fund sources.
- Identification of exposure to sanctioned entities, darknet markets, mixers, and other high-risk sources.
- Enhanced transaction risk screening when a transaction hash is provided, including exposure analysis and risk indicators tied to the transaction flow.
- Evaluation of cryptocurrency exchanges and their associated risk profiles.
- All alerts with detailed explanations displayed in the Sumsub Dashboard for streamlined compliance review.
Get started with Crystal Intelligence
The following is a sequence of steps to be taken to enable Crystal Intelligence crypto monitoring.
Step 1: Request access
Crypto Monitoring with Crystal Intelligence can be enabled through your Customer Success Manager. Contact your Customer Success Manager at [email protected] to request access.
Step 2: Install rules
Once you have Crystal Intelligence enabled for your account, you can install the pre-configured rule bundles from the Sumsub Dashboard:
- Navigate to the Rules Library.
- Install the Crypto Monitoring: Crystal Intelligence rule bundle. We recommend installing all rules in the bundle for comprehensive coverage. For more instructions on how to manage rules, see this article.
- Review and customize rule parameters based on your risk appetite and regulatory requirements.
Note
Pre-scoring rule bundles should be installed first, as they are required for many monitoring rules to function correctly.
Step 3: Create custom rules
Optionally, you can create custom rules tailored to your specific business needs and risk policies. Custom rules allow you to set up risk thresholds and use specific signals that indicate the sources of funds and risk factors associated with wallet addresses provided by Crystal Intelligence. You can also define custom thresholds based on Crystal Intelligence's numerical risk scores (0 to 1) for when transactions should be flagged, held, or automatically rejected.
For more information on how to create and set up custom rules, refer to this article.
