VASP attribution

Determine the beneficiary VASP using the wallet address.

VASP attribution allows you to identify the virtual asset service provider (VASP) associated with a wallet address in a Travel Rule transaction when the information about the counterparty VASP is not explicitly provided.

Benefits of Sumsub VASP attribution

Sumsub offers a highly customizable VASP attribution solution that enables you to resolve the origin or destination of virtual asset transfers using internal datasets, Travel Rule protocols, and blockchain analytics.

You may also configure the attribution process according to your compliance needs, preferable integrations, and risk management strategies.

How VASP attribution works

VASP attribution is based on a sequential resolution logic—once a match is found, no further lookup steps are performed. The sequence of data sources is as follows:

  1. Wallet Address Book (WAB). Wallet attribution is performed using an internal registry of wallet addresses mapped to VASPs, maintained by Sumsub and populated by registered ecosystem participants. WAB is always enabled for all users.
  2. Global Travel Rule (GTR) network. Wallet attribution is performed using the Global Travel Rule (GTR) network.
  3. CODE Travel Rule protocol network. Wallet attribution is performed using the CODE Travel Rule protocol network.
  4. Blockchain Analytics Providers. If previous methods do not return a result, Sumsub queries enabled external providers (based on your configuration):
